Back Up Your Data Or Suffer The Consequences

Back Up Your Data Or Suffer The ConsequencesHave you ever experienced a hard drive failure? Normally, your data can be recovered from a failed hard drive. Janet, a client experienced her first hard drive failure last spring, this is her story.Simply stated, Janet's computer overheated. And Janet got the blue screen of death. After the blue screen, her computer would not boot. All of the normal troubleshooting methods were applied to no avail. So, the hard drive was sent out to a data recovery company. The good news is the company recovered 99% of Janet's files. The bad news is it cost her $2,692.50. A data backup routine would have saved Janet a small fortune. Now take a moment to think about all the documents, spreadsheets, data files, music, pictures and emails that are stored on your computer. Wow! It's really your data that makes your computer indispensable. Your data is a vital asset to your professional and personal life. Unfortunately, many people only realize this after a hard drive crash, virus, or natural disaster destroys their files.A data backup routine serves two purposes. A data backup routine protects your data. And if you store the backup data properly then it provides disaster recovery. There are many ways to backup your data. Windows computers include a backup component but you may have to install it. Or you can just burn your data to media such as a DVD or CD. If you require real time backup then your computer can be upgraded to support this. The most important thing is to remember to back up your data periodically. There are no fast and hard rules for this but at least monthly. If you use your computer for business then consider backing up data weekly or even daily.Once you create a backup, you have to store it in a safe place. A properly stored backup provides a disaster recovery benefit. In the unlikely event of a fire, flood, theft, or other calamity, you would want some distance between the computer and its backup. For routine data, you could store the backup in another room in your home. If the data is confidential, business related, or truly irreplaceable then store it in a fire proof box. You can purchase a fire proof box for your important papers and data for a few hundred dollars. If you just want a greater measure of physical security then store it in a bank safety deposit box.A data backup routine will protect your data, provide disaster recovery, and may potentially save you a bundle of cash. Remember to back up your data periodically. As a matter of fact, go make a back up now.

A Handy GPS System

A Handy GPS System

Todays modern society means ownership of a bevy of gadgets guaranteed to elevate us to new levels of convenience. What would we do with our cell phones, PDAs, and Blackberrys? And now, theres another handy gadget that sits in our palm; it may be small but it harnesses an enormous amount of power and brings it streaming right to our hands. The Global Positioning System or GPS system - is the newest of modern gadgets that promises to keep us on the cutting edge of technology. The GPS system uses the positioning of 24 satellites that circle the earth to pinpoint any location in the world. Having been developed by the United States Department of Defense, the GPS system was initially intended for military use when the first operational satellite was launched in 1978. However, by the mid-90s, 23 more satellites had been added to the rotation and the modern GPS system was born. Todays civilian consumers have taken the system and elevated it to ever-growing popularity. The GPS system of today includes a network of devices used for mapping, navigation, and tracking that has replaced the compass and paper road maps of yesteryear. Users operate their GPS system in a variety of ways from the computer mapping device to the navigational system available in newer cars. One part of the GPS system is the GPS receiver a hand-held device that receives its information from government satellites. Using this information, the GPS receiver does a series of latitudinal and longitudinal calculations that can precisely pinpoint the users location. A small screen will literally mark the location of the user amidst a larger map that shows surrounding points of reference. This can be enormously beneficial in a number of situations including the use by outside enthusiasts who frequently camp and hike. The GPS system that seems to be most in use today is the navigational unit found in modern vehicles. While some units are portable and can be transferred from one vehicle to another, there are others that are permanently mounted in newer cars as part of their standard features. This GPS system when given a specific address can navigate the driver to their destination including turns, landmarks, and distances of all portions of the trip. Most importantly, the GPS system of today is one that provides you with the most convenience that is specific to your needs and frequency of use.

A Salesperson's Guide To Direct Mail Follow Up

A Salesperson

When it comes to sales, the sales you are putting on the books today are the income and your sales pipeline and customer list is your equity. Income today gets spent tommorow, but a solid pipeline is something that you can tap into in the future because you have laid the foundation for a potential relationship. The problem that most salespeople have, though, is that there is not enough time in the day to keep the sales cycle going with people that seemingly have no interest to purchase at any point in the future. Why spend time and resources devoted to a relationship which may or may not pan out when there are active deals you are working right now?Well, there is an effective way to do both. Nobody will ever be able to convince me that a salesperson is too busy to spend 10 minutes a day touching base with those prospects that, if landed, would become high value customers. If you can't find time to put a phone call in to a business owner to keep the sales cycle moving, then you need to rethink your position. After your top level prospects, it does get a little tougher to find time to make the phone calls to keep you on their mind. That's where direct mail follow-up comes into play. The internet has made it so much easier to stay in touch with customers on a semi-automated way. Some high level CRM Programs even send out your monthly follow-up automatically at a predetermined schedule. But even if you wanted to do it the 'low tech' way, you could just create your spreadsheet of prospects, type up your monthly letter, and then merge the names in to somewhat automate the process. Better yet, there are some companies that will allow you to send greeting cards from your desktop and write a personalized note that gets sent through the US mail. These personal touches in an automatic way can help build the relationship with your prospects when you have too much on your plate to put a phone call in.So, we all know that follow up in sales is key but nobody seems to do it. With the advancements in technology, it has made follow-up exteremely easy for sales professionals. My advice would be to write out your plan of follow-up with your prospects and then work the plan. You will absolutely see great results and when it comes time to put a phone call into those prospects, you will be thankful that you kept the sale going through direct mail.

Wifi Technology - Get Connected With Wi-Fi Technology

Wifi Technology - Get Connected With Wi-Fi Technology

Wireless communication is one of the fastest growing technologies. The demand for connecting devices without the use of cables is increasing everywhere. Wireless LANs can be found on college campuses, in office buildings, and in many public areas.Wifi (wireless fidelity) has brought a new dimension in the field of wireless networking. The transmission of data is done through the radio waves in the free space. It cuts down the cost of laying down the cables for network connections. The systems which are wifi enabled are mobile and can be used anywhere in the range of the network.Wireless router.Router is a connecting device, which receives the data from the source and route the data to its destination. Wireless routers refer to the devices in the wireless network, which receives the signal from a source and rout the signal to its destination by examining its SSID. Routers are generally used to interconnect two networks.A wireless card. Some systems which do not have in built wifi devices so they need an external interface card which connects the wifi device (a transmitting device) to the system. These cards can be connected to the PCI slot of the mother board. Also in order to receive the wifi signal from devices our system should be equipped with a receiver. Nowadays receivers that can be connected through USB are also available.Hence we see that wifi has numerous advantages. Nowadays wifi connections can be found on college campuses, in office buildings, in many public areas. If we consider the present world, we find that the demands for the wifi connections are increasing. People are beginning to appreciate the advanced features wifi network provides to the user. Due to its increasing demand the scope of the wifi network is also on the rise. Here we highlight the major benefits of installing a wifi network. For more info see http://www.topwifireviews.com/Voip_Wi-Fi_Phone on Voip Wi-Fi Phone.Firstly it cut down the cost of laying down the cable for network connection.Secondly with no wires attached it is possible that the sender node can be mobile.Thirdly the equipments required to fully establishing the wifi network anywhere is relatively cheap. So the cost incurred in establishing the wireless wifi connection is cheaper and also very easy to install. Wifi established in small place do not even need the wireless routers.Lastly it is also possible for the user to have a better speed of Internet connection by using wifi network. Since the bandwidth provided by wireless cutwork is large connection speed between two nodes is faster. It is also faster to transmit data between two devices connected through wifi.

Uninterruptible Power Supplies What Are Their Components?

Rectifier : this part of the UPS converts the incoming alternating current (ac) supply to direct current (dc) and can provide charging current for the battery and also the supply requirements for the inverter.Charger : in a number of UPS systems due to the nature of their design a separate battery charger is used, this is more common on sub 60kVA UPS systems and is very common on small sub 3kVA units.Battery : this is the power storage section and is kept charged either by the rectifier or a separate charger. Its storage capacity is generally displayed, as AH (ampere hour), which is the number of amperes of current that the battery can supply for an hour. There will be a number of limiting factors depending upon the application, typically if the design calls for a short autonomy (length of time the battery will support its load for), the batteries can be discharged to a lower level, in the case of emergency lighting where there is a requirement for a long autonomy the battery will not be allowed to discharge so far. These conditions help to allow the maximum design life of the battery to be achieved.Inverter : this section of the Uninterruptible power supply provides an ac output to the load which is in phase with the input mains supply. Due to the number of conversions (ac to dc to ac) and the filtering involved it can be termed as a 'clean supply'.Static Switch : this circuit can be as simple as a relay or more commonly using thyristors, its purpose is to switch the load between the inverter and the utility mains supply. As has been previously mentioned the output of the inverter is in phase with the utility mains supply so that any switching between the two will be virtually seamless. This arrangement ensures that if the inverter experiences an overload situation, due to its extremely fast over-current detection circuits it will transfer the load to the more resilient mains supply. A typical example would be when a server rack is switched on, the inrush current, depending upon the size of your uninterruptible power supplies , could cause the transfer to the utility mains supply, and once switched on the load will transfer back to the inverter providing the inverter has sufficient capacity to support the load. Also a fault on the inverter will cause the load to be transferred, again virtually seamlessly; it would be unusual for any loss of load to occur during these conditions.Maintenance Bypass : more typically found in UPS systems with a capacity of 6kVA or greater. This arrangement allows the load to be transferred under controlled conditions to the utility mains and the UPS to be shut down without loss. Normally carried out for routine UPS maintenance or UPS repair.External Maintenance Bypass : the installation of an external maintenance bypass can allow the UPS to be removed/replaced without interruption to the load, also, if the actual maintenance bypass is fed from a separate supply it can allow load testing in the case of a major UPS repair and/or checking of the autonomy under simulated load conditions while the site load is being supported by the external maintenance bypass circuit. This is often used when allowing the UPS System to be bypassed onto standby diesel generator power. Alternatively, when batteries are replaced and removed, it can only be done by placing the uniterruptible power supply into external bypass.

Flash Is Disadvantageous For Professional Service Firms

Despite the aesthetic benefits that flash can bring to a website, far more disadvantages exist when applied to the content-driven website of a professional service firm. What you typically gain in eye-catching graphics and animation, you lose in usability, navigation, and overall comprehension of your information architecture. If potential clients cannot effectively navigate your information architecture, the website will not be a valuable tool in demonstrating the firm's thought leadership. Ultimately, prospects will not understand what services or solutions can be beneficial to their organization, nor convinced that your organization has the best people and experience to get the job done.First, lets establish what applications of flash I am specifically referring to. The following is a list of applications that I feel are most relevant, but this is by no means comprehensive:1. Flash Introductions2. Rotating Logo, or Mission Statement3. Flash NavigationFor the sake of time, I will just focus on Flash Introductions. You will find that the rationale can be equally applied to the other two applications, and will give you a philosophy to make your own inferences on a case-by-case basis. When I see an elaborate flash introduction (you know the kind, the one that takes 2 minutes to load and feels like a commercial) the only thing that I derive from the swirling animation and upbeat music is, "Well, at least they have a really good flash animation team." It may seem silly to say that, but what else is there to infer? For all of the precious attention a flash introduction demands, it tells a prospect nothing about the firm's core competencies, prior experience, or caliber of their professionals. It is just a flashy commercial. Any firm can hire a great flash production company. However, the most successful firms will build a website with a simple and intuitive navigation structure where prospects can easily find and access firm knowledge.Think of it from the point of view of your buying center. Your prospect's executives are concerned with answering questions like:1. Who are you?2. What types of services and solutions do you provide?3. Have you worked with companies similar to my own?4. What kind of success have you had?Flash introductions are distracting and create roadblocks for executives to access this information and ultimately solicit your services. It is the answers to these questions that sell professional services. Not an animated commercial. The prospect's time and attention, are precious. Professional service firms MUST adopt a philosophy to funnel prospects to their knowledge-base, effectively and without distractions.Given that this could be your only shot, ensure that when a prospect comes to your website, they can find what they are looking for as quickly and easily as possible.Grant
